Living in LaSalle, IL when father died in 1895 and when mother died in 1905. In 1870 census, there was a John Dugan, 19, apprentice of a watchmaker in Zanesville. However, not sure it is the same person. [8-8-98 update] Stumbled onto a record in the DAR (on www.Ancestry.com) of an Edith Dugan Haas, daughter of John W. Dugan and "Bell" Bedard, his wife. She is a descendant of Jonathan Hubbard. Contacted by grandson John (Jack) Du Gan (prefers spelling with a space) in 2005. Received generation chart providing information on intervening generation.

Almost married Phil Sheridan (from Somerset, OH), but her father didn't want her to marry a wild Irish Catholic, so he arranged for him to get an appointment to West Point -- and the rest is history. When looking for markers for James A. Dugan and George R. Dugan we found only a marker to the wife of Issachar Wines (an obelisk in the southeast corner of Section 14 of Greenwood cemetery). There is considerable space to the south of the obelisk and it is assumed that James and George are interred there with their grandmother Wines. Albert I is also there.
