Gene O. McCormick, 92, of 620 East Main Street, McConnelsville, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15,2012 at Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville. He was born May 4,1919 in Morgan County to the late Homer and Mary Offord McCormick. Gene was a 1939 graduate of the M-M High School and was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was retired from Taylor Woodcraft, and was a member of the McKendree United Methodist Church. He was also a longtime member of the M-M Rotary Club, the Neelyville Grange, and the American Legion Post 24 of McConnelsville. Gene is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret Olney McCormick; a daughter Jane (Butch) Brown of McConnelsville; a son, Richard B. (Nancy) McCormick of Aiken, SC; four grandchildren, Bart Brown, Josh (Lisa) Brown, Andy (Jaren) McCormick, and Clare (Jacob) Linder; six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Sierra, Hudson and Rogan Brown, Liam McCormick, and Troy Linder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Don McCormick. Calling hours will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McKendree United Methodist Church near McConnelsville, where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bracken Foster officiating. The burial will be in McKendree Cemetery with military honors provided by the Morgan County Veteran's Group. Memorial contributions may be made to the McKendree United Methodist Church building fund, c/o Mary Ellen Chipps, 2776 East St. Rt. 60, McConnelsville, OH 43756.
