We had originally thought Edward was an itinerant Methodist minister. He certainly traveled around and was a Methodist, although there is no hint of him being a minister. His obituary reads as follows: Obit: Edward Offord, son of Alex and Addie Callahan Offord [RCD - this is incorrect. Addie Offord was a sister-in-law], was born in Morgan County, Ohio, April 12, 1861, and passed away at his home in Lexington, Kans., Thursday evening, Nov. 9, 1944, aged 83 years 6 months and 27 days. He came to Olathe, Kans., in 1904 and for sixteen years he was representative of the Watkins Remedy Company in this county. He moved to Lenexa in 1910 and continued his position with the Watkins Company until about the year 1920 when he operated a Produce Business until ten years ago when he retired. He is a member of the Lenexa, Kans., Methodist church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Offord of the home, one daughter, Mrs. Howard Earnshaw of Overland Park, and one sister Mrs. Emma McLucas of McConnellsville, Ohio and also one neice Mrs. Lillie Eggleston of Cameron, Mo. [RCD - there were lots of other nephews and nieces]. Funeral services in the home at Lenexa, Sunday afternoon Nov. 12, 1944 at 2 o'clock conducted by the Rev. Q. W. Brakebill, pastor of the Methodist church at Lenexa. Interment in Lenexa cemetery. Julien Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
