Frank suffered from back problems most of his life. He apparently fell from a ladder when he was young and continued to suffer the ill effects for the rest of his life. His eulogy, read at his funeral, indicates he suffered from "hardening of the hip tissues." Frank Dugan remembers that he traveled to Minnesota in search of a cure at some warm springs there. Perhaps, his sister Ella had told him about it. Frank died of a heart attack after spending the morning cleaning out a corn crib that was in the NW corner of the Red Barn at the time. He came in, had lunch and then sat down in the Living Room where he died.
